Carbon Hardback Blades – cutting wood, mild steel, or resawing

Carbon Hardback Band Saw Blades are a low cost alternative bandsaw blade on easy to cut material such as non-ferrous metal, wood, resawing.

Carbon hardback band saw blades have an excellent fatigue factor to give long saw blade life on band saws running at high speed.

These band saw blades are one step up from a Flexback carbon saw blade, with the difference being that not only are the saw teeth heat-treated, but the back of that saw blade is as well. It allows the band saw user to run the welded-to-length saw blade at higher cutting rates and increased feed rates. The heat treated backer material helps the band saw blade cut straighter because it has a higher tensile strength. An economical bandsaw blade used for general purpose cutting of a variety of materials including:

  • mild steels
  • copper
  • wood
  • plastic
  • cast iron
  • cork
  • brass
  • lead
  • furniture
  • resawing
  • bronze
  • zinc
  • fiberglass
  • non ferrous metal

There are a great variety of saw blade widths, thicknesses, and tooth shapes to suit any band sawing purpose. The two most popular saw blade tooth patterns are the hook tooth (H), and the raker tooth (R).

The hook tooth band saw blades have a 10 degree positive rake angle for fast cutting of non-ferrous metals and wood cutting. The raker tooth is a conventional saw blade tooth used for general purpose band sawing.

There are many types of band saws that can use Hardback saw blades including Jet, Wilton, Kalamazoo, Grizzly, Dake, Doall, Hyd-Mech, Powermatic, Tannewitz and many others. Any light to medium duty vertical band saw or horizontal band saw typically run carbon bandsaw blades. Small to medium sized toolroom and maintenance facilities are typical users of this type of band saw blade.
